The Bike Shed

Whist the bike shed contains some lovely machines, it shows that all bikes can be loved and given a home, whoever the rider and whatever their levels.   I am living proof that the best bike (and throwing money at it!), has no guarantees!

CERVÉLO S5

They’re both great kissers and apart from the initial outlay are cheap dates do what they’re told and don’t answer back. The future is female.

GIANT DEFY ROADBIKE

The original ‘old faithful’ winter road bike.

Started off life as part of the intro triathlon package and has evolved as per Triggers’ broom.

New 105, Chinese important Wheels and Adamo Saddle has set this up nicely to cope with less than clement UK winters.

It has also survived a Deer attack.

BLUE

Not a cloud in the sky or a sniff of rain to be seen….this is when Blue gets it’s chance to come out and play.

Nice Di2 Set up for hill climbing and light as a feather – albeit a little scary in any sort of wind.

The bike of choice for a drafting race.

CEEPO VENOM

Super-fast TT bike, with the disc wheel on it feels even quicker (even if it’s just that sound).

Used mainly on the Turbo and non-drafting races, but still a favourite.

TREK DOMANE SL

Why is it my pride and joy?

It’s beautiful for one (though now sadly has scuff marks on one side where it dropped down the side of the front wall I think 😔), it’s super light and it takes me off to see beautiful places.

CEEPO MAMBA

Beautiful little road aero, which has helped the skipper learn to ride a bike which was not a child’s size.   Already has the 312 Mallorca under it’s belt and hopefully a ½ Outlaw soon.

RIBBLE GRAN FONDO

They’re both great kissers and apart from the initial outlay are cheap dates do what they’re told and don’t answer back. The future is female.

SPECIALIZED ROUBAIX

This beautiful little machine, was the replacement for R23’s previous Specialized Road Aero.

Bike crime has been common amongst the UT membership, with the previous model being taken from work and the assailant caught on camera!  An attempted bike retrieval from an online seller, proved to be unsuccessful, so the replacement was made.

Kitted out with disc brakes and Ultegra, it’s an adequate new machine.

GIANT DEFY "BLAKEY"

My trusty steed.

I love my ride because no matter how much I neglect her or steer us into trouble (aka crashes), she still runs smoothly.

FELT TT

For racing, this is a lovely looking TT bike which despite throwing R23 off it and puncturing her elbow, looks to a fast one, when under control.

SPECIALIZED ROUBAIX

First and so far the only carbon bike, very comfortable on long rides along with granny gears for serious hills.

VAN NICHOLAS YUKON

That all year around reliable commuter and winter ride choice.

BOARDMAN ROAD COMP

Following the theft of the trusty Carrera (Must’ve been a tall thief who lifted the bike over the lamppost??), the Boardman came to the rescue (and as a nice little upgrade) to help our Super sprint champ continue to up her game.

SPECIALIZED ALLEZ SPORT

A solid working bike that has carried PP up many a hill in the peaks, so it must be strong as an ox.

LIV AVAIL SL

This may seem like a child’s bike, but it is not to be underestimated, as it has a habit of not allowing the Rev to release herself from her Cleats!   Great little bike for helping her zoom up the hills!

OLD GARDEN BIKE

A sturdy garden addition, picked up on a UT swimming trip to the river.  Not as fast as the other bikes in the garage, but enables the rider to hold an aero position for a decent period of time.   It’s role as a garden plant holder has been invaluable
